Temples and Tombs Along the Nile

Luxor occupies part of ancient Thebes and contains an extraordinary concentration of archaeological sites. Karnak and Luxor temples stand on the east bank of the Nile, while the west bank contains the Valley of the Kings, monumental funerary temples, tombs, villages, and desert cliffs.

The city also offers a slower river atmosphere, with feluccas, cultivated fields, palms, and views across the Nile. Few destinations allow visitors to experience monumental ancient architecture and the surrounding landscape at such close range.
