Red Sea Paradise
Coral Reefs and Turquoise Shores
Egypt's Red Sea coast offers a striking contrast to the Nile Valley and desert interior. Clear blue water, coral reefs, islands, beaches, and mountain backdrops have made the region one of the country's leading destinations for diving, snorkeling, sailing, and coastal holidays.
Hurghada developed from a smaller fishing community into a major resort center, while destinations farther south provide access to extensive reef systems and marine environments. The Sinai coast, including areas around Sharm el-Sheikh and Dahab, adds another major Red Sea tourism region.
Beneath the water are coral gardens and diverse marine habitats supporting colorful fish and other sea life. Responsible tourism and conservation are increasingly important because these ecosystems are both environmentally valuable and sensitive to human pressure.
The Red Sea demonstrates the remarkable range of Egypt's natural attractions. Visitors can move from ancient temples and desert landscapes to beaches and underwater environments within the same country.
